Spencer is not yet walking on his own. He still walks along furniture and behind his activity walker (pictured above), he loves to dance and is obsessed with the Bubble Guppies ( Thankful for that, ONE of the only toddler shows I can stand ). He is very vocal and his vocabulary continues to expand. He can say mama, dada, papa, gigi, nana, yes, no, kenji (our dog), juice, diaper, wow, whoa, bubble, uh oh, hi, bye and many more. It's so fun now that he can communicate with us more. His personality keeps shining through by the day and I think we're in trouble... He may look like his daddy, but has the sass of his mommy. You know when your mom used to say, "one day you'll get your payback!" yeah, jokes on me - MOM YOU WERE RIGHT! I am thankful for his sass, I want him to never be afraid to stand up for himself or say how he feels, because lord knows, I don't hold back and tend not to have a filter, but I will say since becoming a mommy I've changed that a bit and I am a far better person now than I ever was. I can thank Spencer for that one. Even though my personality shows more than my husband's, I am hoping he is laid back and worries less like his dad. I envy those characteristics of my husband, he is care free and easy going, me over here, high strung and a worry wart. So, I can only hope my son takes those characteristics from his dad.
Spencer loves being outside blowing bubbles, swinging or walking with his activity walker. He loves animals and the zoo, we bought a zoo pass this year and have gone multiple times already. He enjoys it and behaves so well. For mommy, its nice to get out and walk around taking in the fresh air. He also enjoys opening all of mommy's kitchen cabinets and pulling all her hand towels off the racks! He plays well by himself and with others, he can entertain himself long enough for mommy to get all the floors washed, I mean he's got enough toys :) -- lately the mega blocks have been the go-to toy and he's slowly learning he can stack them together. He also has a stuffed black bear that he is obsessed with and a little toy hammer he carries around banging on everything.
We are almost off bottles completely, only one at night and were still working on getting him to fall asleep alone in his bed, but for selfish reasons we enjoy our time rocking him to sleep. He is a good eater and his favorites right now are turkey lunch meat and cottage cheese. Most nights he eats what we eat, which is awesome and not having to buy formula is AMAZING! He enjoys peanut butter and always steals bites of my reese's, he recently had a chocolate chip cookie and couldn't get enough. I am always look for new toddler recipes, so if you have some fun ones I would love it if you shared them with me, I have been wanting to mix up his meals more and expand his food horizons. He can be picky at first with a new food, but if I try it a couple times he eventually likes it, which I hear is normal. So, any recipes you have that your kids love, please share.
Our life is fast-paced and as he continues to become more mobile it gets faster and faster, we wouldn't change it for the world. As time continues to tick a way he gets older and older, he is becoming a toddler and he's not a baby anymore. It makes me sad and happy all at the same time, I miss those infant days but, look forward to all the changes that come with life with a toddler. I cherish everyday because you never know when those firsts and lasts will happen, like walking... I am patiently waiting for those first steps! But, for now I'll enjoy where we are in our life and take the milestones as they come.
