My Mother's Day was wonderful. We spent Saturday at my in-laws cottage. We put the boat in the water and had dinner. It was a quiet day and we enjoyed just spending time together at one of our favorite summer hang-outs.
On Sunday, I received a Green Tea and Lemonade from Starbuck's first thing when I woke up ( I have a serious addiction, serious), well after my little one year old poked me in the eye and said "hi". Then we ventured to Lowes where we bought flowers and veggies. We came home and ate lunch, Spencer took a nap and I planted all my flowers, in max speed before Spencer awoke. My mom and dad stopped by on their way home from a weekend get-a-way. We played on the swing out front, blew bubbles and enjoyed the "warmer" weather. Then we made homemade pizza. I also received probably one of the best gifts, my husband (and Spencer) got me an engraved Tiffany's necklace that says MOM - I just love it, absolutely obsessed. I also got a new YETI tumbler, because I am also obsessed with YETI :) -- It was such a busy, yet relaxing day, it really was perfect.
For our mom's for Mother's Day, we made them Love plates...
You then write the L - O with the ceramic paint pen and wait 5 mins for it to dry. Now, comes the hard part. The feet V - because Spencer is one, he was a little squirmy and the pic above is about as good a footprint as I could get, the nice thing about the paint is that you can wipe it off with a wet paper towel if you don't like it, the pen is not as easy to wipe off. Next, paint their feet, press them down into a V and then finish it off with the paint pen with an E.
While you're doing the feet, preheat your oven to 375 degrees, the plate will need to bake for 40 minutes after you've completed it. Be sure you don't go too heavy on the ceramic pen, bubbles will burst in the oven. Believe it or not the E on this plate burst and I immediately took nail polish remover to it with q-tips, luckily it came off and I was able to thicken the letters a little. But, you live and learn, just don't over do it with the pen.
The end result is so cute, I loved it so much I made one for myself and my neighbor (with her infant son's feet - is prints were perfect). We both have wedding plates so I thought it would be cute to add these LOVE plates to our collection. This was such a great project and especially for Mother's Day. If you attempt this, please leave a picture in the comments I would love to see how your's turns out.
I hope all of you MOMS had a wonderful day! Stay strong until next year :)
