We had a great time just the two of us, it was the first time in 15 months we actually spent some quality time just as husband and wife. It was much needed and now we cannot wait to do it again!
Spencer, too, had a wonderful weekend with Gigi and Papa B. He traveled to the east side of Michigan for a family friend's high school graduation party, he got to meet the Minions and go to a movie in the park. But, most of all he got some quality alone time with Gigi and Papa, uncle Greggory even came to visit. He did really well with my parents over the weekend and I was so glad he made it easy on them. I think they were just as pooped out as he was.
It feels so good to know we can go away for a couple of days and our son can have a good time. I think it was harder on us than it was on him, at one point my mom had to tell me to stop texting her. It was a little hard Friday morning and afternoon, but I quickly got over it and decided to enjoy just having my husband around. It was weird not having to do diaper changes, nap time, fill sippys full of milk or water or serve lunch. We could do whatever we felt like for 2 days and it just felt weird, we honestly missed our crazy busy Spencer schedule. The drive home to pick him up felt like 3 days but, it was so fun reuniting with him!
When we arrived home on Sunday it was like Spencer hadn't even realized we were gone, which hurts a little, but it's wonderful to know he can be away from for a couple of days and be okay. We will definitely try and go away more often and we're excited for Spencer to start having more overnights with both sets of grandparents. He may be more excited about it then we are.
sorry, for the short post. Just wanted to give a quick update on our getaway weekend. Teething toddler life calls :)
I will be posting a Father's Day post in the next few days!
