Two weeks ago at a routine doctor appointment the doctor decided to order an ultrasound to check on baby's growth. Her reasoning was because my belly was measuring 9 days behind they just wanted to check on our little girl. At first I was a little concerned seeing that most doctors don't worry about growth unless your belly measures more than 14 days ahead or behind, but the other part of me was happy we would get to see our little girl again. So, yesterday was the big growth ultrasound. She weighed 4lbs, but she is short. She had a ton of hair as the ultrasound tech pointed out, you could see it floating around in the amniotic fluid. My fluids were good and placenta looked great, but according to US standards and the "average" baby she is clinically behind. The doctor seems to think it is most likely genetic since I am barely 5'2" and 125lb at 33 weeks pregnant but, as a precaution I now have to have a non stress test once a week until she makes her arrival. As if the shots weren't enough, now a non stress test too. After three non stress tests I will have another growth ultrasound. I may sound like I am complaining, I am just really tired and starting to feel like a clinical trial, lol, but I would do anything for my little girl. So, non stress tests here we come! Oh, only THREE MORE INJECTIONS!!!!!!!!!!!
Its funny, they tell you they want you to do non stress tests and expect you not to stress. Guess what, I am stressed. Not only am I worried about the test but I am creeping up on the 35th week and I am terrified. That's the week I had Spencer and I just want that week to come and go. Fingers crossed I'll hit 36 weeks with no problem. And then even 37 weeks, I would be ok with 40 weeks.
The doctors reassured us yesterday not worry that this was usual protocol. They said if they were really concerned they would deliver her immediately. So I am holding on to that and hoping we pass the non stress tests and we get to meet our baby girl in 4-7 weeks and hopefully she is just petite like her mommy.
